OUR MISSION:
Education.
Namibian Rural Education Fund gives young students access to education.
When children thrive, communities thrive.
Our Mission
Namibian Rural Education Fund provides support for the children attending the Oruuua Primary School in the region of Otjozondjupa, Namibia. Our services includes: providing needed supplies for the children who are seeking education, but require boarding while attending school; supporting long-term efforts to build sustainable food sources; and creating enrichment provisions to support learning and engagement.
Our Impact
The Oruuua Primary School and hostel has about 150 children ranging in age from 5 to 20. Most students stay in the hostel, which is a dormitory with meals, because they come from too far away to return to their homes every day (a few live close by). Some students come from 100 miles away. The students come from the Ovaherero, Damara, Ovambo and San tribes. When the Namibian Rural Education Fund started their first donation in 2018, the school had no food for the new year, and was facing the prospect of closing the hostel.
